A busy schedule for the Banffshire Scottish Country Dancers during our trip to Kronach. Dancers: Liz & Gordon Bulloch Anne McArthur & Alice Archibald Linda Thomas and Alistair Mason On Tuesday 21 July The Country Quines, the Highland Dancers and the six members of the RSCDS Banffshire Branch set off to entertain at the local care home in Kronach. There were 120 residents eagerly awaiting to be entertained. Cassie on Pipes delighlighted the residents with a great selection of Scottish music. The Highland Dancers, Ruby & Abbie danced beautifully and were warmly received by the audience. The Scottish Country Dancers danced Craigellachie Lasses, Ladies of Banffshire and Deil Amang the Tailors. After the performances our Kronach friends prepared a lovely cup of tea with lots of cakes!!! It was very much appreciated. In the evening of the 21st we hiked! up the hill to the Rosenwald Fortress to entertain the locals. The space was limited for our group to dance, however we managed to squeeze in Findlater Castle Braes of Strathlene and Welcome to Dufftown . On Wednesday 22nd we headed off to Bamberg. After a historical guided walking tour of Bamberg we headed to Wild-Rose-Keller Beer Garden which seats 1200. The locals were out in force with their picnics ready to be entertained by the Scottish groups. The Scottish Country Dancers performed: The Driving Reel and The Wind on Loch Fyne. Thursday evening was the 'Pub night' at the Blueberryhill Bar in Kronach. The Country Quines were headlined so therefore the pub was full to capacity with standing room only. There wasn't enough room for the Scottish Country Dancers, however we enjoyed The Country Quines music - They were on FIRE!!! and very much appreciated by the audience. Friday morning was the highlight of our visit The Scottish Country Dancers along with The Deveron Singers were asked along to the local High School to teach groups of 13 to 14 years old children singing and dancing. Anne McArthur lead the teaching along with support from Alice, Linda, Alistair, Susan, Liz & Gordon. Anne taught the Charleston Chaser, A Reel for Jeannie, Virginia Reel and the Circassian Circle . The SCD group enjoyed watching the children enjoy the Scottish music and it was a joy for us to watch. At the end of the morning both groups had to choose one day and one song to perform in the playground at the end of the morning. Our group of dancers chose 'The Charleston Chaser'. Both groups performed very well. field. The group performed 'The Charleston Chaser' very well. The Deveron Singers and the Scottish Country Dancers received gifts from the children and the school. The sweeties and the locally made honey were very much appreciated by everyone. A copy of the RSCDS Banffshire Branch childrens resources was handed over to the teacher at the school. We are hoping that the school will use the resource. Friday night was Dinner and Ceilidh night with our Kronach friends. The group leaders were presented with gifts from the Kronach committee followed by performances from all the groups on the trip. Saturday 25th Saturday was our free day to relax and do a bit of shopping or eating in one of the nice coffee shops or indulge in an icecream. Liz Bulloch, Chair of the Branch along with Anne McArthur, Kay Gauld, Stan, Daniel and Andrea and Irene Watt from The Deveron Singers were invited to a BBQ at Andrea's house (Andrea was the teacher we met at the local school) to introduce us to the Mayor of Kups , Herr Bernd Rebhan. Our group shared information about places to visit and 'things to do for a future visit to Banffshire. Saturday evening: The Finale!!! was here All groups performed in the Kronach Theatre to a packed audience. The Kronach audience along with our groups had a great night of entertainment provided by: Cassie Findlay on Pipes The Country Quines - SCD Band. What a wonderful trip!
